Distinctive Homes + Lifestyle Investment
Born in Vancouver and raised in the Fraser Valley, Ashley Smith has comprehensive knowledge of many Lower Mainland neighbourhoods. Having purchased her first property at 20 years old, she took a deep interest in understanding wealth creation through real estate. Influenced further by her mother’s long-time career at the City of Surrey, Ashley took a special interest in community planning, development, and sustainable growth.
In 2008, shortly after beginning her career as a REALTOR®, Ashley returned to Vancouver and was immediately enamoured with the city’s vibrant urban environment, diversity, and incredible geographical landscape. She refers to this move as one of the most notable and best decisions of her life. Ashley loves to travel, and the more she does, the more she admires and appreciates Vancouver – it’s clean, beautiful, and teeming with life and opportunity.
Today, as a property owner and investor in Vancouver, she is mindful that her level of expertise and service directly impacts her clients’ lives and success – especially as property prices continue to escalate at an unprecedented pace. Whether buying, selling, or working to do both, Ashley recognizes that decision-making (particularly quick decision-making in a high demand market) must be done with sound judgment, due diligence, an understanding of local and global trends, and other influential factors.
Ashley Smith is emerging as one of Vancouver’s top REALTORS® in the marketing of distinctive homes. She is adamant that today’s real estate professional must be highly skilled at optimizing technology to benefit their clients and to maximize results. In her opinion, professional photography, consumer-friendly floor plans, hassle-free digital signature options, and client-preferred communication methods are base level offerings required to provide best service.
By her peers, Ashley is considered a leader in leveraging the Internet and social media to benefit her clients. She is proficient with targeted online marketing campaigns that deliver results – for sellers AND buyers. Royal LePage offices and the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver have reached out to Ashley to serve as an instructor and keynote speaker on social media best practices, online marketing, branding strategies, business development, and how to maximize market exposure for property listings. For Ashley, engaging in social media is not simply a pass time, but a learned strategic business application.
The Klein Group offers a unique real estate business model in Vancouver. The best way to descibe the team is as a tight-knit brokerage with boutique, high-level service standards and an old-school flair. Every REALTOR® on the team has their own independent practice within a framework of quality, high performance standards. This said, you will often see Klein Group REALTORS® cooperating and working together when it is advantageous to the client. The team is always in the office when they are not out at meetings or showing property. If you pop by on any given day, you will definitely find the Klein Group working away in a belly-to-belly environment. This scenario is uncommon in the real estate industry today. Without it, the team recognizes they would miss opportunities for clients that appear both organically and through creative strategy and interaction.
The Klein Group offers 3 distinctive services: Residential, Commercial, and Project Marketing, with specialized professionals in each area. In Commercial, for example, the team has individuals who practice predominantly in land assembly, development, multi-family investment, retail, business brokerage, etc. The team currently has 14 REALTORS®. Together they speak 12 languages: English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Farsi, Punjabi, Hindi, Spanish, French, Greek, and German. This diversity has proven to be an incredible asset. The Klein Group is able to leverage one another, and tap in to niche markets and buyer demographics in a very intentional way.
Since 2013, the Klein Group has been recognized in the top 1% performing Royal LePage teams and agents across Canada. In 2014, they were #2 in British Columbia, and #1 in the entire Lower Mainland. Learn more about Klein Group at kleingroup.com.
Ashley has an enthusiasm for governance and leadership. She serves as the youngest Director-at-Large at the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (elected by her peers), and also sits on REBGV’s Governance Committee (appointed). REBGV is a not-for-profit professional association of the 12,000+ REALTORS® who work in communities from Whistler to Maple Ridge to Tsawwassen, and everywhere in between. Managing a multi-million dollar annual budget, this is the largest regional association in B.C., and the 2nd largest in Canada. Ashley’s experience serving in Organized Real Estate has further committed her to offering excellence in her personal business, and insisting on high standards of professionalism in the industry overall.
In 2012, Ashley graduated from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) NFP Governance Essentials Program, and has since continued to further her leadership studies and training.
With a passion for community engagement, Ashley actively stays connected. Whether it’s a development open house, neighbourhood planning or transit workshop, charitable event, or political networking opportunity – Ashley is often in attendance. She strives to be “in the know” of what’s coming, and to have worthwhile relationships with influential people in the community.
Ashley stands out among her peers as a real estate professional who offers an opportune combination of cutting edge marketing savvy, and an extensive personal, volunteer, and business network. A determined influencer and connector, she focuses on bringing people together to achieve great things – to build wealth, opportunity, community, and to help others.
In her adult life, Ashley has been very privileged with the opportunity to travel. It has afforded her the ability to see life through a broadened lens – an experience that has been both exciting and humbling.
She had always wanted to visit the city where her mom was born – Palermo, Italy – to get a better sense of her Sicilian roots. In the Summer of 2015 she finally took a 7 week leave from work to embark on this adventure, and to also explore other European cities/countries. Ashley’s grandfather and many (amazing, vibrant) cousins still live in Italy, and meeting them for the first time was a significant, memorable experience for her.
Besides the adventure of exploring new places, travel has served Ashley’s business in an incredible way. She has a deeper understanding of why people from all over the world seek to immigrate to Canada for a life of better opportunity for themselves and their families. It is also very clear why Vancouver shines as an emerging city on the global stage. Housing affordability is a hot topic, but it is difficult to have a thoughtful dialogue about this issue without understanding the global context, as well as the incredible quality of life Vancouver offers compared to many other (often amazing) places.
Some of Ashley’s other globetrotting includes: Hong Kong, Vietnam (North to South), Dubai, India (New Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Goa), Italy (Sicily, Rome, Tuscany), Greece (throughout – during the 2015 bank closures), Croatia, Istanbul, Prague, Vienna, Munich, Mexico, New York, Washington D.C., New Orleans, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Alberta, New Brunswick… and hopefully more to come. Up next: Shanghai.
A choir nerd at heart, Ashley loves music. Don’t pass her the mic in a karaoke bar – you may never get it back. She doesn’t brag about her limited guitar skills, but strumming a tune and singing around a campfire is one of her favourite activities in life.
Ashley is a big fan and supporter of the arts, especially when it comes to theatre in Vancouver. She is a member of the Arts Club Artistic Director’s Circle, and regularly attends shows, opening nights, and Arts Club fundraising events. She strongly encourages anyone interested in theatre, or those simply looking for something fun and different, to explore the shows and events offered by this fantastic company.
Last, but certainly not least, Ashley is also a fan of wine – usually bold reds. An advocate of BC wineries and vineyards, she enjoys exploring the diversity and quality vintages British Columbia has to offer.
